Troubleshooting problems with the FixPanic Chat interface

This page covers common issues with the FixPanic Chat interface at chat.fixpanic.com.

Connection Issues

Chat Disconnected

Symptoms: "Disconnected" message or messages not sending.

Solutions:

  1. Check internet connection: Try loading other websites.

  2. Refresh the page: Press F5 or Ctrl+R (Windows/Linux) / Cmd+R (Mac).

  3. Sign out and sign back in: Click your profile > Sign Out > Log in again.

  4. Clear browser cache: Clear cookies and cache for chat.fixpanic.com.

Messages Not Sending

Symptoms: Send button doesn't work or messages disappear.

Solutions:

  1. Check you have a cluster selected
  2. Check you have an agent selected
  3. Verify the agent is connected (green status)
  4. Refresh the page
  5. Try starting a new conversation

Slow Response Times

Symptoms: Agent takes a long time to respond.

Possible causes:

Agent Not Responding

Agent Shows as Connected but Won't Respond

Symptoms: Agent status is green but doesn't reply.

Solutions:

  1. Check for pending approvals: Look for an approval request in the chat. The agent may be waiting for approval.

  2. Try a simple command: Type "hello" or "test" to see if basic communication works.

  3. Refresh the page: Sometimes the UI gets out of sync.

  4. Start a new conversation: Click "New Chat" and try again.

Agent Shows Disconnected

Symptoms: Agent status is red or "Disconnected".

Solutions:

  1. Check agent status on the server:

    fixpanic agent status
  2. Restart agent if needed:

    fixpanic agent restart
  3. Check network connectivity from server:

    nc -zv socket.fixpanic.com 9000
  4. Review agent logs:

    fixpanic agent logs

No Agents Available

Symptoms: Agent selector is empty or shows "No agents".

Solutions:

  1. Verify you have deployed at least one agent
  2. Check the selected cluster has agents
  3. Switch to a different cluster
  4. Deploy an agent if none exist

Login Problems

Can't Sign In to Chat

Symptoms: Login fails or redirects to error page.

Solutions:

  1. Verify credentials: Use the same account as the dashboard.

  2. Try the dashboard first: Log in at app.fixpanic.com, then navigate to chat.

  3. Clear browser data: Clear cookies for chat.fixpanic.com and app.fixpanic.com.

  4. Try incognito mode: Test without browser extensions.

Session Keeps Expiring

Symptoms: Frequently logged out.

Solutions:

  • Don't use "private/incognito" mode for extended sessions
  • Check if cookies are being blocked
  • Ensure time is synchronized on your computer

Approval Issues

Approval Not Appearing

Symptoms: Agent says it needs approval but no prompt shows.

Solutions:

  1. Scroll up in the conversation
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Check if you accidentally dismissed it
  4. Start a new conversation and try again

Can't Approve or Deny

Symptoms: Approval buttons don't work.

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Try a different browser
  3. Check for JavaScript errors (F12 > Console)

Approvals Timing Out

Symptoms: Approvals expire before you can respond.

Solutions:

  • Respond to approvals promptly
  • Enable notifications to be alerted of pending approvals
  • Consider whitelisting common safe commands

Streaming Issues

Response Not Streaming

Symptoms: Full response appears at once instead of streaming.

Possible causes:

  1. Browser doesn't support streaming (rare)
  2. Network proxy interfering
  3. Browser extension blocking

Solutions:

  • Try a different browser
  • Disable browser extensions
  • Check network/proxy settings

Response Cuts Off

Symptoms: Response stops mid-sentence.

Possible causes:

  • Agent timeout
  • Network interruption
  • Very long response

Solutions:

  • Ask the agent to continue
  • Ask for shorter responses
  • Refresh and try again

Display Issues

Messages Not Formatting Correctly

Symptoms: Code blocks, tables, or markdown not rendering.

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Try a different browser
  3. Clear browser cache

Dark Mode Problems

Symptoms: Hard to read in dark mode.

Solutions:

  1. Toggle dark mode off and on (Settings or header icon)
  2. Clear cache
  3. Report specific issues to support

Mobile Display Issues

Symptoms: Interface broken on mobile.

Solutions:

  1. Try landscape orientation
  2. Use desktop mode in mobile browser
  3. Try the desktop version

Symptoms: "Deep Link Error" when opening a shared link.

Causes:

  1. Navigate manually using the selectors

History Issues

Conversation History Missing

Symptoms: Past conversations not showing in sidebar.

Solutions:

  1. Wait for history to load (may take a moment)
  2. Scroll down in the history list
  3. Use search to find specific conversations
  4. History is tied to your account - verify you're logged into the correct account

Can't Delete Conversation

Symptoms: Delete option doesn't work.

Solutions:

  1. Hover over the conversation
  2. Click the trash/delete icon
  3. Confirm deletion
  4. Refresh if it doesn't disappear

Model Selection Issues

Model Not Available

Symptoms: Certain models greyed out or missing.

Causes:

Model Responding Differently

Symptoms: Different behavior after changing models.

Explanation: Different models have different capabilities:

  • Some are faster but less capable

Performance Issues

Chat Interface Slow

Symptoms: Laggy typing, slow scrolling.

Solutions:

  1. Close unnecessary browser tabs
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Disable heavy browser extensions
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Check system resources

High Memory Usage

Symptoms: Browser using too much memory.

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page periodically
  2. Start new conversations instead of very long ones
  3. Close other tabs
  4. Restart browser
